One person is dead following a collision between a pickup truck and a dirt bike.

The wreck happened around 9 o'clock Monday night on Kentucky 205 in Lee City in Wolfe County. Police say the driver of the pickup didn't see the dirt bike and rear-ended it.

The driver of the bike, 25 year old Jody Akers, was thrown off the bike and onto the pickup's windshield.

Akers later died.

The driver of the pickup isn't being charged.

in response to allan from lex. that comment ( these rednecks know this!), that you made about my brother was cold hearted and uncalled for!! you don't know any of us. my brother and i was raised to respect people and to say please and thank you. he was always respectful to everyone everywhere that he went. just because someone likes atv's, dirt bikes, & motorcycle's don't make anyone a redneck. nor does being from wolfe co. i just hope you don't loose anyone thats close to you too such a tragedy and something so cold hearted gets posted about your family, or maybe thats what you need, but i would have to say that would be wrong of them to do since your not suppose to pass judgement on anyone.

hey kimberly, how are you, your dad and family doing? I think of each of you every day. My heart goes out to each of you. I can still picture little jody at our family reunion sitting at the picnic table. He was maybe 13 or so at the time. I am your dads first cousin, your grandma Marys' brother Jims' daughter! I love you all so very much! Love your cousin debbie

First of all this was a major tragedy, my heart & prayers go out to my family. the person that hit my brother will have to live with this for the rest of his life but none of you all know any of the facts of what happened that night but the driver, witnesses, & my brother & one of them will never be able to defend himself per he is dead leaving a hole in my heart that will never be mended. the driver that hit him, if had a heart at all could have appologized to the family & told us what happened. Second of all i have drove that road all my life and with lights on your vehicle you can see miles ahead of you, & dirt bikes of all types have reflectors, very loud, & a lot have front lights, & the road is what you should be watching at all time regardless of what or whom is on it. my heart is broken and this is something that i will have to live with for the rest of my life. he was my only brother & a loving uncle. just because some1 rides a dirt bike don't make us rednecks.
