The Office of the Attorney General today announced that Sabrina Cupp, the former City Clerk in Loyall in Harlan County, and her husband, Anthony Cupp, have entered guilty pleas in Harlan Circuit Court to theft charges for stealing more than $21,000 from the city of Loyall.

An audit of the city's finances performed by the State Auditor Crit Luallen's office at the request of Loyall Mayor Clarence Longworth found that $21,499 was missing from the city between the years 2004-2006.

The auditor referred the findings to the Office of the Attorney General.
Cupp and her husband, who was an unpaid city volunteer, were indicted on September 25, 2008 on felony theft charges.

They pled guilty to the charges on March 19, 2009 and admitted using city funds for house payments and dining out.

Each has been sentenced to five years to be diverted for five years and each must pay restitution in the amount of $6,000.
