Three Harlan County men are sentenced in federal court, after they admit to stopping the main fan inside a mine for more than six hours.

Ira Sergent of Cumberland, Johnny Osborne of Evarts and Reggie Raleigh of Bledsoe say they stopped the fan back in December of 2006, violating federal health standards.

Federal law states that if a fan is off for more than 15 minutes, miners working there have to be evacuated.

Sergent was ordered to pay fines and will serve six months probation.

Osborne and Raleigh were ordered to pay fines with no probation.
