A body is discovered early Friday morning near a mine site in the Vicco community of Perry County. The family of Jessica Haddix Mullins believes the body is that of their missing loved one. Haddix was last seen Saturday night in Knott County.

Police say they are continuing to look for clues after finding the body of a female near a mine site in Perry County.

"We do know that we have a missing person that's been reported missing from Breathitt County. We can not confirm whether it is that individual or not," said Tony Watts with Kentucky State Police.

Family members of missing 29 year old Jessica Haddix Mullins say it is too hard to go on camera, but say they know the body found is Jessica's by a description of tattoos. Mullins was last seen this past Saturday in Sassafras In Knott County after dropping her youngest child off at her boyfriend's home. A few days later he car was discovered at an abandoned strip mine, about five miles from her boyfriend's home.

"The body has been removed and has been taken to the medical examiner's office in Frankfort, for positive identification and also to determine the cause of death," said Watts.

In the meantime they are still looking into Mullins' disappearance, taking video surveillance from this Marathon on Highway 15. The store owner did not want his face shown, but says a man used her food stamp card the night she disappeared.

"Somebody come in and used the card shortly before midnight Saturday night, the transaction went through, we should have it on surveillance tape," said Kevin, the store owner.

He says police are examining the tape, and he hopes they find what they are looking for.

"It's probably somebody who knew her because they know the number to her card,” he said.

He, along with family members say they hope they get answers soon.

Police say they expect an autopsy to be performed tomorrow morning. The gas station store owner says he is not certain if the video captured the man or not because he recently switched monitoring systems.

jesse was taken from her family 6 months ago.as of now there has been noone held responsible for her death. we her fam.are very sad about that.noone deserves to die that way and their body just thrown away as if they were of no use to anyone.jesse was a mother, a sister,a daughter,a neice, and a friend to someone.if by some chance u believe she deserved no better, then know this her innocent children deserve much better. they need to know what happpened to their mother, why she is never coming home to them. nov.27 jess would have been just 30 yrs. old.a few months ago someone in her life reached their 30th birthday i remember her saying aint he so pretty.we are trying to keep our lives as normal as possible but that is a very hard thing for us to do. our family has been broken not by the will of GOD,but by the hand of someone making the decision to take many lives in their hands and wring the life out of them.if u no anything about this please contact the state police or me.
