A state of emergency is declared in Pike County after another round of flash flooding.

Officials say some homes and roads were flooded just more than a month after the devastating Mother's Day Weekend disaster.

It is the same scene in Pike County as one month ago. Heavy rain caused rivers and creeks to overflow, flooding streets and homes. In Zebulon, Terry Young cannot get home because four feet of water is in the way.

“I was only gone for maybe five minutes and it came from the creeks up to the house so I couldn't go home,” Terry Young said.

He left his own home to go rescue his sick father-in-law who was flooded in Coon Creek.

“He was stranded and couldn't get out. I had to go through water over my truck bumper, but I got him out before it got too bad,” Young said.

Volunteer firefighters made several other rescues across the county. Homes are flooded in Sidney and crews had to get people out. Firefighters rescued several people stuck in cars on Coon Creek and Dix Fork.

The Big Creek Fire Department is also flooded with at least three feet of water inside. Officials say some of same homes flooded last month in Sidney were flooded again.

People in Johns Creek recovering from last month's flood say they cannot take another round.

“Once you've gotten flooded, you lose all heart. If it rains again, it will devastate this area,” Young said.

They plan to watch the water all night.

First, got to love people like Taylor who get on here just to start stuff..with that said, its sad that the county isn't doing their jobs and cleaning out the creeks and helping with roads and bridges. We do not live in the slums, we have nice homes and cars/trucks that are being ruined everytime it rains. Thank our lovely magistrates office, if he would do his job then we would have the help we deserve and need!! Think about that next time elections come around!!

Jason is right. That strip mining is mighty powerful stuff. It makes flooding go back in time to flood areas before it existed. That's some mighty powerful stuff right there.
