Monday morning's heavy rains led to flash flooding in parts of Perry County and forced several people from their homes.
WYMT’s Matt Barbour talked to an 87 year old woman that was saved from the waters in Bulan.
Early Monday morning flash floods hit the community of Bulan hard.
“The water was already, it was up to my waist, me and my son, we walked around this way and walked up around,” Jimmy Williams said.
That's when Jimmy Williams says he realized 87 year old Lilie Gibson and her family was in trouble.
“I was asleep and they come in there, get up. You're going to drown,” Gibson said.
“Me and my son we got them. We brought them all out on the front porch and we packed them over to my mother-in-laws,” Williams said.
“They packed me out there to the neighbor's house and on his back. I was scared. Afraid I was going to drown,” Gibson said.
She says her hero was more than kind.
“I just told him I was going to drown. He said no you're not and said he wouldn’t drop me. I don't know who he was!” Gibson said.
She says the events were a little too exciting for a lady with high blood pressure.
People living in Bulan can go to the Jake's Branch Fire Department off highway 476 to get drinking water and cleaning supplies.
