A Laurel County man leads police on a chase while they say he was drinking homemade alcohol! He's also accused of trying to assault an officer before his arrest.

It started on North 25 in East Bernstadt. Deputy Jason Back says he noticed a driver crossing the center line several times, and when he turned on his lights, the driver took off.

One witness, who did not want his face on camera, says he watched all the action once they turned down Bentley Road. He says, "I thought they were going to stop, but soon as they acted like they were going to stop they sped off again."

A CVE officer, Charles Garland, joined in to help Deputy Back in the chase. "I had to veer out of its way to keep it from striking my vehicle."

Officers say the driver of the car, David Brannon, and his passenger, Arther Bentley, ran several cars off the road. Deputy Back says, "At this point is when they struck my cruiser twice while on Bentley Road."

The two finally stopped at the end of the dead end road where police approached the car. "I noticed the driver was drinking out of a white half gallon milk jug which he later said was homemade wine he said he was trying to finish it off before he went to jail," says Back.

Deputy Back says Brannon was kicking and punching as they tried to arrest him and both officers used their tazers to subdue him. "Where it took several several cycles like that to comply it would be evident that he was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol also," says Garland.

Back says, "Generally people running from the police don't want to give up, and that's why they run."

The passenger, Arther Bentley, was cited for resisting arrest and public intoxication and was taken to the hospital for previous health issues. David Brannon faces several charges including fleeing police, wreckless driving, DUI, and assault on an officer.

What Kind of health problems did the fellow they arrested have? they used a taser on them did he have heart problems? will a dr be checking him out to see if the tazer had an affect on his heart? I dont like tasers I think The nation should out law the use of them because the human heart and the Randomization of possile heart problems could be fatal or permanent damage from Electricity produced by the use of them. it is impossible for police to know the state of ones health with tasing more then a few deaths in Canada and USA has occoured because of taser use...unless you can do a EKG and monitor the heart while one is being taserd then you really dont know if your useing deadly force or not do we? It should be law that a officer agrees that if someone dies from the taser is murder charge for the officer, then let the officers choose to gamble with murder charges cause these tasers has already killed and will again what do we say Opps, there went another one? my goodness he is dead
