A Breathitt County mountain climber has safely reached the summit of Alaska's Mount Denali.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports 63-year old Martin Douthitt of Jackson and two other climbers in his party pushed their way to the mountains summit on Sunday, after being delayed by bad weather.

The climb began June 8th.

Denali is North America's highest peak.

Douthitt has now climbed six of the so-called seven summits, the highest mountains on earth's seven continents.

He has not climbed Mount Everest.

He's expected home early next week.
