Family and friends gathered Monday to remember a Kentucky soldier at a memorial service in Knott County.

Captain Eric Terhune, a marine from Lexington, died a little more than one year ago serving in Afghanistan.

Terhune's grandparents say he lost his life doing what he knew was right.

His grandparents say Eric was an outgoing, competitive person who was always humble and loved to be surrounded by his closest friends.
