It's the subject that has gained attention across the state, bringing a Sprint Cup Race to the Kentucky Speedway.

On Wednesday, the Governor Steve Beshear signed a bill to bring this possibility closer to reality.

"House Bill 3 that we passed during the special session, among other things, contained a number of tax incentives for this raceway assuming that they can bring a Sprint Cup race here and make some pretty big investments in expanding this track. So, Kentucky has now stepped up and done its part", says Governor Steve Beshear.

Governor Beshear says Bruton Smith, the chairman of Speedway Motorsports Incorporated, has been working on bringing the NASCAR race to Kentucky for some time now.

"I know Mr. Smith and his company want to bring that race here and a lot of investments, millions of dollars of investments, here so we're gonna continue working on that", says Governor Steve Beshear.

But still in the way is a lawsuit by a former co-owner against NASCAR and its sister company, claiming they illegally conspired to keep certain tracks from getting cup dates.

"There's a lawsuit that's involved right now that will hopefully get settled or ruled on fairly soon and I think that once its out of the way I can see some great things happening", says Governor Beshear.

Should the lawsuit get settled and a Spring Cup race be brought to the state, the Governor says that means big things for Kentucky.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Kentucky. It's estimated that there's about a $200 million dollar impact just for a weekend that involves a Sprint Cup race and that's hard to imagine but that's the way it is", says Governor Beshear.

A race the Governor says he and others are looking forward to and would want to be a part of.

"I want to be at the very first Sprint Cup race and I want to be able to say, 'Ladies and gentleman, start your engines!'", says Governor Beshear.

If you want horse racing to do better let them take baseball bats and start knocking jockeys off then you would get a crowd i will stick to 800 horses and its under the hood.

It doesn't matter to me but seems like that our Governor is big on gambling and racing. What say you?
