CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (AP) - Company officials say eight miners were
injured in a mantrip accident at a western Kentucky mine, with a
broken leg the most serious injury.

A mantrip is a train-like vehicle that miners use to travel up
and down a coal mine. It runs on rails and is pulled by a cable.

KenAmerican Resources Inc. said in statement the Thursday
accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. EDT at the Paradise Mine in
Central City, about 100 miles southwest of Louisville.

In a statement, KenAmerican says the accident occurred inside
the mine, and all passengers are getting medical checks.

The company says the incident is under investigation and
declined to answer further questions.
