Several EKY police departments get millions of dollars in grant money
Eighteen Kentucky police departments are awarded more than five million dollars in federal grant money to pay for officer salaries.

Eighteen Kentucky police departments are awarded more than five million dollars in federal grant money to pay for officer salaries.
Benham police chief Michael Franks says his department was awarded a "COPS" grant for more than 87-thousand dollars.
Franks says this will help pay for salaries, health insurance and other things for three years. He also expects to add more officers to the force.
Right now, there is only one part time officer other than Franks due to budget cuts last year.
Other Eastern Kentucky agencies receiving money include Coal Run Village, the Cumberland Police department, the City of Hyden and the Owsley County sheriff's department.

It looks like the stimulus money is finally getting to the municipalities, where it was intended to go. That is, after the state took most of it to balance their budget and plug holes in their financial package because that don't have the courage or integrity to either reform an antiquated tax system or live within their means.

Thats all we need in East Ky. Is more cops,maybe 10 or 15 more so called justice centers.WOW what a waste.
