Small earthquake
Some folks living in Harlan County might have felt a little shaking Thursday afternoon.

Some folks living in Harlan County might have felt a little shaking Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the U.S. Geological Survey say a small earthquake hit the area around five Thursday afternoon.

There are no reports of damage or injuries from the magnitude 2.8 quake, which was centered about six miles from the City of Lynch.

It wasn't an earthquake, it was Kentuckians heading south taking advantage of Tennessee's tax holiday.

i live in cumberland and didnt notice any mild earthquake. how could people from all these other counties feel it? honestly! a 2.8 should have knocked my old house to the ground!!! haha....

i camped at kingdom come park near cumberland ky for 7 days.i started home friday morning arouns 7 am but thursday i felt a small shake there not enough to notice by many others harlan county is located on one of the largets faults in the united states and the deepest one too.there should be more research in harlan county and western va shanadoah va is hwere an ancient astroid hit and one in middlesbouro as well. our geoligest at uk should do a study in that area would be of good use to the big one thats yet to come uk should strip away by satelite photos the top soils with all vegetaation this will give a better look at where large and small astroids struck the earth at diferent time perionds too.with drilling in locations to take samples of places thats been struck go back in history to prepare for the future good luck uk
