Thousands of illegal drugs and stolen items are seized from one home in what police call one of the biggest drug busts in Pike County.

A husband and wife were arrested after police say they were running a drug warehouse in their home.

Police say Gary and Billie Helen Spears ran the McDonald's of drugs out of their home.

They even offered quote, "value meal deals of drugs." and traded stolen items if a buyer did not have cash.

Officers say some of the items recovered came from as far away as Montana.

Coal Run Village Police Chief Jeremiah Blair is still counting how many pills were seized during a weekend bust, but it already adds up to almost four thousand, and all from one home!

“I haven't seen anything like this in ten years of police work that has equaled this amount of prescription medication,” Chief Jeremiah Blair said.

Police say it is from an undercover investigation on Mossy Bottom Lane. It started after neighbors made numerous complaints.

“There's been a lot of traffic coming in through here, a lot of weird things going on,” Steve Fannin said.

Police say Friday night they saw a woman buy drugs at the home.

That led to a traffic stop and a search at the home where Blair says they found illegal pills everywhere!

“They were Velcroed underneath tables. They were Velcroed and hidden in various places throughout the home,” Chief Blair said.

Officers arrested the 65 year old couple living there, Gary and Billie Helen Spears. Officers also found hundreds of stolen items in the home.

“It resembled a flea market or a warehouse, there was so much merchandise. They were using a barter system where they would trade drugs back and forth, and trade drugs for merchandise,” Chief Blair said.

The items are guns, cell phones, tools, jewelry, antique money, and computers. Blair says some items are traced to stolen from mid-western states.

“It's just nice to see something like that finally come to an end,” Fannin said.
Police believe this bust will make a difference on crime in the county.

The two are charged with drug trafficking and tampering with physical evidence.

They turned down our interview request.

Two people from the traffic stop that led to the search, 36 year old Betty Hamilton and 32 year old Brian Thacker, were also arrested.

More money is spent on drug enforcement in this area than is spent to help the needy. I love how people judge someone without knowing who they are. Ever heard of walking a mile in someone else's shoes? 4000 pills? Really? And out of the supposed 4000, how many of those were actually considered narcotics? Probably not even 1/4th of the meds found were illegal. I love how the truth get's stretched to make these people seem so terrible. Keep in mind their age...this was someone's grandparents. Fixed income only brings in so much money. Selling drugs isn't the best way to make an extra buck, but I'll lay down money to bet that these two elderly people never forced pills upon anyone.
