A four year old Breathitt County boy is hit by a car in his driveway, and now police are asking for your help to find the woman that drove away. We talked with the boy's parents who say their son is facing severe head injuries and are hoping the driver will turn herself in.

It happened while four year old Joshua Klampe's parents unloaded groceries. Police say three teenage boys saw it all. Jim Klampe, the boy's father says, "She said 'Who hit my boy?', and they said 'We didn't hit your boy, but some car hit your boy and took off'. They said she did not stop, she just kept on going."

Joshua Klampe was treated at a local hospital, then taken to UK where doctors found a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. "He just kept saying 'I hurt, I hurt.' And it just about broke my heart. He's laying there saying 'I hurt daddy, I hurt.'" says Jim Klampe.

The boy's mother, Monica Klampe says, "I asked him, I said 'Do you remember what happened?' and he said, 'A car hurt me.'"

Police say there is so little traffic on the dead end road and that the woman driving the SUV was likely at the annual Honey Festival in Jackson and they say if that festival was not going on, it's possible this accident would have never happened.

"I can't fix this. He looks at me and says 'Mommy, fix it.' I can't fix this this time," says Monica Klampe.

Now his parents are pleading for the woman driving the champagne colored SUV to turn herself in. The boy's mother says, "His little brother saw what happened to him. He says 'Joshy was hit by a car and there was blood, and the car goes vroom!' I mean, a two year old saw that."

"I believe they should prosecute her, do whatever they have to do and I just don't want her to do this to another child," says

Doctors are hoping the swelling in Joshua's brain goes down so they do not have to operate.

Monica Klampe says, "I just want my family to get get back to normalcy. I want him to be able to go back to school, I want him to be able to laugh and play and be an athlete like he wants to be."

Police say the driver will face assault charges when she is found. Police say they do have a person of interest and are reviewing surveillance video from the area for more clues. Anyone with information should call the Jackson Police Department at 606-666-2424.
