Sam Neace will walk all the way from hazard to Chicago to help raise money for cancer awareness.

31-year-old Sam Neace was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in 2007 and beat it.

“My last chemo treatment was about a year and a half ago,” Neace says.

Now, he faces a new challenge. Walking from Hazard, to Chicago.

“25 miles a day for 21 days if all goes as planned,” Neace says.

Neace is raising money for relay for life and the American Cancer Society.

He hopes that he'll receive some national attention from Oprah, whose studios are in Chicago.
So far, Neace has written two books. Neace's Pieces has ten short stories. Bad Boy is a young man's struggle to become an adult

“If I walk it all the way up there, 500 miles, she'll see how much it means to me and how serious I am about it and she'll at least sit down and read them,” Neace says. “That's all I’m asking her to do.”

His Cousin, Phil Neace says, “Not a better cause could ever be worked for. Sam's going to do a lot of people proud.”

Sam Neace will leave Perry County Central High School at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. He will then walk 500 miles to the windy city to raise money for cancer research.

Phil Neace says he cannot be more proud of Sam when he takes his journey.

“He's just a representative for all the people of Eastern Kentucky, what he's doing is great for our mountain region and him personally and we just wish him the best,” Phil Neace says.

Sam Neace says even if Oprah does not read his books. His walk means so much more.

“Raising the money for the fight against cancer, If nothing happens with Oprah, I’ll feel good about what I’ve done. Simply because of that,” Sam Neace says.

You can track Sam Neace's walk to the windy city on his twitter page--neaces pieces.

If you want to attend the send off for Sam neace they will meet at Perry County Central High School tomorrow morning at nine o'clock.

Sam, you are the man!! We can't wait until you get home, everyone here is so proud of you. When we became family 3 years ago, I thought you were cool as [edited]. Now I know that you are just awesome. God bless you man, and if Oprah doesn't give you a chance, then she is not the smart, kind, and caring person that she has lead us to beleive. I am not trying to put Oprah down though, I know she realizes character when she sees it, and man you not only have charachter, you are classy. Love ya bro. BTW, the girls are looking forward to seeing you, I know Molly is I picked her up from school today and Daddy was all she talked about, she may be young, but she knows exactly what her daddy is doing.
