It was an overcast Friday, but that's did not stop folks from heading out to the 47th annual Apple Days Festival in Paintsville.

"Big tradition in Johnson County. It's exciting to come back and see friends once a year." said Jason Hurt, a festival goer.

People says its a festival they would not miss.

"I love Apple Days! This is one of the greatest festivals in the Eastern part of Kentucky." said Jimmy Kimmey, who's never missed an Apple Days.

There's music, arts and crafts and games and rides, but the food is the main attraction.

Crews spent weeks cooking and getting ready. One church prepared hundreds of jars of apple butter.

People say they enjoy eating it all, from candy apples to apple pie.

They also say its a weekend of making memories.
