Charges against a state lawmaker, allegedly involved in a dispute with a neighbor, are dropped.

The Salyersville Independent reports State Representative Ancel Smith, who serves parts of Knott, Letcher, and Magoffin Counties, was accused of punching a neighbor, David Wesley Hayes, during an argument last month.

A complaint filed by Hayes says Smith also threatened to get a gun and kill him.

The court ruled the charges against Smith would be dismissed as long Smith has no contact with Hayes.
