The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Casey County Friday afternoon. It was an EF-2 tornado with winds between 111 and 135 mph. The tornado's path was about a mile and half long. Most of the damage was near the intersection of Kentucky 70 and Kentucky 206, southwest of Liberty. A nearby mobile home park suffered a lot of damage. Resident reports seeing branches flying around before they took cover. One witness says he saw a house fly across a field. Officials also thought two children were trapped in a mobile home that flipped, but they were found safe. Residents aren't just dealing with damage to their homes. There are also downed power lines and trees. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

A perimeter has been setup to keep those who don't live in damaged areas from getting in. Officials are asking people to stay away unless they have a reason to be within the perimeter. They say they will be checking I.D.s and turning away those who don't live in the area. A Red Cross shelter has been set up for people in need of help at Walnut Hill Elementary on 2834 S. U.S. Highway 127 in Liberty.

Back in May, I went through the torando in Richmond. (Adam's Place Subdivision) My family and I were all home, and it was very scary. We lost everything, and were having to rebuild our home. (taken off foundation) We were very lucky that no one was seriously injured. God had it planned out for us. The Red Cross and everyone was very helpful, and I want to thank everyone for their support. I also want to thank 27 News First for taking the time to interview my step father and going through my home. I'm very sorry to hear about people losing everything, but hang in there. Even though there may be rude people out there, we also have some very helpful people. And again, I'm sorry to hear this. I'm very glad to hear everyone is okay.
