FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear has angered some
Christians with his yuletide terminology.

A giant evergreen that will brighten the Capitol lawn this
winter won't be called a Christmas tree. Instead, the Beshear
administration has dubbed it a "holiday tree."

The Rev. Jeff Fugate of Lexington said the change in terminology
is offensive to Christians.

Beshear administration spokeswoman Cindy Lanham said the holiday
tree reference was used last year as well and is meant to be
inclusive of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah and New Year's.

Republican Senate President David Williams of Burkesville said
Beshear is putting political correctness ahead of Kentucky values.

WYMT News Director Neil Middleton is blogging about the controversy.

Every day I ask myself, "How did this loser ever get elected?". I can't find one redeeming quality or good thing this guy has done since being in office.

It seems to me the governor had a change of mind from 10-28-09 until 10-29-09 concerning the CHRISTMAS TREE. After seeing the results o the poll revieled it should remain a CHRISTMAS TREE. This excuse he was trying to celebtate three holidays in one was just what i said "excuse". Why would we start to celebrate three into one now? We don't need a tree for Thanksgiving and New Years. [most people don't even put their CHRISTMAS TREE up until the day after Thanksgiving.] The only holiday that should require such a celebration is CHRISTMAS which is the birth of our saviour JESUS CHRIST! They have already taken christianity out of our schools and other public places in our society. What will be the next step taken to try to remove CHRIST from our everyday lives? We as christians should step up and fight back to keep chrstianity as part of our everyday lives, because witout CHRIST where would we be? This is a question we all ned to stop and ask ourselves and think abut it very seriously.
