A Lexington construction worker says he's lucky to be alive after being trapped up to his shoulders in dirt for more than two hours. Kevin McHone says one minute he was working in a hole he'd dug. The next minute the dirt buried him.
"It happened quick. It was like a mudslide. I was coming out and it came down," McHone says. The construction worker says it trapped his feet first. He says he felt paralyzed.
"I was trapped between a wall and dirt. I was like the meat in-between sandwiches," McHone says. It was in that moment, McHone considered he'd never see his family again and then decided to fight back. He says he yelled for his co-workers but they couldn't hear him because they were using loud construction equipment nearby. Instead, he used his hand, which were free, and threw dirt at them. A co-worker finally noticed and dug out McHone's head before calling 911. It took crews two hours to free McHone. He calls the emergency workers "heroes" and says he's grateful for what they did. McHone was taken to U.K. Hospital where he stayed overnight and was released Wednesday morning.

Was there an OSHA investigation. If so, what was the result? If not OSHA's not doing their job. His family should be outraged. I'd call the "Heavy Hitter".

This is a safety issue commonly overlooked but no less deadly than electrical or fall hazards

Channel 27 had the best postings on this near to death story. the coverage they provided was outstanding and following up on the Man's condition was even better. We would like to hear more of his Courageous/condition, because it could have happen to any one of us construction workers!
