Several high school students from across the region find out they will go college next year, on a full scholarship. The recipients of the Lindsey Wilson College scholarships, which total around $2 million, were announced at Knox Central High School tonight.

The four year scholarships were given to 13 students from different high schools in Eastern Kentucky. An organization called "mirror Mirror" in Middlesboro helped initiate the program with the college last year. Lindsey Wilson provides the funding for the scholarships, which equals more than $100,000 dollars per student.

Jason Creech started "Mirror Mirror," an organization to help kids get money to go to college. He says, "We're looking for students that show amazing amount of potential, but they've had to overcome some challenges, and they need a break. We want to be the break."

At a christian rock concert and motivational presentation at Knox Central High School, the scholarship winners were announced. Lindsey Wilson Admissions Counselor Evelyn Field says, "This area has a lot of need for support, we just want to reward students who want to pursue higher education."

Students say applying for the scholarship was no easy task. Clay County High School senior Morgan Jackson says, "I had to write a thousand word essay about my life ambitions, my goals, and challenges that I faced in life."

After hearing her name announced, Morgan couldn't believe it. She says she was "overwhelmed," and says, "I was not expecting to get it whatsoever. I was more prepared not to get it more than anything, so I'm shaking right now." She says she wants to pursue a nursing career. Creech says he hopes the program and Lindsey Wilson are a starting point for students like Morgan.

"We want to help celebrate the life of so many young people in our area, and we want to be a small part of launching them toward their God-given dreams." Creech says that he is working to get other colleges in Kentucky and surrounding states involved in the program.
