Longtime minister is killed in traffic accident
A long-time minister in eastern Kentucky is dead after he was involved in a traffic accident.

A long-time minister in eastern Kentucky is dead after he was involved in a traffic accident.
It happened Tuesday on U.S. 23 in Allen.
State police say 81-year old John R. Pelphrey pulled across the southbound lanes and collided with another vehicle driven by Terri Edwards of Prestonsburg.
Pelphrey was pronounced dead at the scene.
He recently retired as pastor of the Paintsville United Baptist Church, where he preached for many years.

john was a great man and a friend to every one.my condolences go out to his family.they know like me and everyone that knowed him knows he is with our lord smiling down and watching over all that he knowed and loved

John Pelphrey was a friend of my family when I was growing up at Emma. I can remember him visiting my home once a week when I was growing up.Hw was our "Jewel Tea" man. He drove around in a delivery truck and took orders from my mom for many years and delivered them the next week. He was a wonderful Christian man and we will miss him. My family's thoughts and prayers are with his family. May God's grace help you deal wirh this tremendous loss. There is no doubt in my mind that John is sitting at the right hand of God.
