An American Idol crew was at an eastern Kentucky elementary school today.

But the focus was more on reading . . than singing.

The crew was at Beckam Bates Elementary in Letcher county . . to film a segment that will air on an upcoming American Idol show. Idol has teamed up with the save the children campaign . . in an effort to improve literacy among children.

The school will appear on the April 24th and 25th American Idol show. The school's principal says the more votes cast . . the more money the school will get to improve literacy.
