A national report ranks a Magoffin County nursing home as one of the worst in the country.
The government accountability office says ten Kentucky nursing homes are among the most poorly performing in the nation, including the Salyersville Health Care Center.
Nursing home officials say they have already made the necessary improvements.
Magoffin County Health Department directors say they believe the nursing home is now in compliance and say they have no concerns.
Families of their patients say they are also pleased with the improvements.
Manuel Montgomery's mother lives in the Salyersville Health Care Center.
“The people who care for her seem to do a real good job,” Manuel Montgomery said.
Officials with the U.S. Government Accountability Office say the nursing home is one of the worst in the country.
The report used inspection data from October to December of 2008 and claims Salyersville Health Care Center scored poorly in areas of the number of nurses on staff to issues of care.
“Naturally, it's a concern but I'm there at least three times a week, and as far as her care, I've never seen anything that's inappropriate,” Montgomery said.
“They have made lots of improvements,” Bertie Kaye Salyer said.
Magoffin Health Department Directors say the alleged violations from 2008 are corrected.
“They have been compliant of anything we have requested of them. We work very closely with them on a number of issues,” Salyer said.
Health Department Workers visit the nursing home weekly and are keeping an eye conditions for the more than 100 who live there.
“Whatever we've asked of them, they've been more than willing and I think they really have good of residents at mind,” Sharon Green said.
Montgomery says he can tell the changes have made a difference, and says he has no concerns over the report's ranking.
“I've even talked to her you know, asked if she's got any problems and she never complains,” Montgomery said.
He says he would not let his mother live there if he did not think it was safe.
Medicare also ranks nursing homes in the country.
Salyersville Health Care Center received a one out of five stars.

Inspections are a good indicator of the level of care provided in a nursing home bt we also run a service called www.whereforcare.com where people who have experience of nursing homes such as residents and relatives can write about those experiences to help others who are searching for good care- so get reviewing if you can or forward to others who can!
You have a few really kind-hearted employees who care about the patients. The rest are just there for the job & they don't care how well it gets done. The CNA's are worked into the ground & most don't want to work there for very long.
