Sex Offender Arrested For Murder Of Mom & Children
Kentucky State Police announced at 11am this morning an arrest has been made in the murders of a Carter County mother and her two daughters. The suspect is from West Virginia, where police say he was a registered sex offender.

Investigators announced Thursday the arrest of 27-year-old Robert Drown from West Virginia. Police say he is responsible for the murders of Jennifer Ison and her daughters, Shannah and Marissa. The three victims were found dead in their burned Carter County mobile home May 9th. Police say they were murdered before their house was set on fire.
Police say Drown was a registered sex offender in Ohio and West Virginia. KSP investigators say Drown was non compliant. He's now charged with three counts of murder, one count of arson, rape of a person under the age of 12 and burglary. State Police say they are working to have Drown extradicted back to Kentucky.
Drown did apparently know Jennifer Ison, who police say he had a limited relationship with. Police say he strangled the girls' mother. Ten year old Shannah died of blunt force trauma. Police say little three year old Marissa died in the fire.

HITCHINS, Ky. (AP) - State police have charged a West Virginia man with murder in the deaths of an eastern Kentucky woman and two children found dead in a house fire.
Robert L. Drowns, 27, of Kenya, W.Va., was being held Thursday in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, W.Va. Kentucky State Police obtained a warrant Wednesday charging Drowns with three counts of murder, first-degree arson, first-degree rape and first-degree burglary.
Drowns was charged two weeks after law enforcement found the bodies of Jennifer Ison, 31, Shannah Ison, 10 and 3-year-old Marissa Ison inside their mobile home in Hitchens, which had been set ablaze.
West Virginia State Police served the warrant on Drowns at the jail, where he was already in custody on charges of noncompliance with the sexual offender registry.
A neighbor notified authorities of the blaze shortly after 4 a.m. on May 9. When Hitchins volunteer firefighters reached the scene, the three-bedroom home was engulfed in flames, police said.
Ison, 31, was a registered nurse in the labor and delivery department at Cabell Huntington Hospital in nearby West Virginia. Hitchins is about 27 miles west of Ashland.

There seems to be no reasoning with the mob mentality. I noted in my comments that this one was committed by a registered sex offender but that the greatest number of sexual crimes are committed by those who don't register because they're new, and no one comments. One poster even said there should be a one strike for sex offenders. I don't know about Virginia laws, but in California, someone who pees in an alleyway and the cops see it is a registered sex offender. Would you put such a person like this in jail for life, or fry them? Or a woman who gets caught prostituting herself is a registered sex offender. Shall we jail her for life? The hysterical reaction to this guy's heinous crime shows that the public isn't thinking straight on this issue. Get a grip, folks.
