Monday wasn't only Memorial Day, it was also the grand opening of a controversial new museum in northern Kentucky.

Visitors and protesters alike lined up outside the Creation Museum in Boone County.

The 27 million dollar facility, just a few miles south of Cincinnati, tells visitors that the earth is just a few thousand years old and that Adam and Eve lived among the dinosaurs.

They came for different reasons, hundreds of people on two sides of history. One side says what's being told inside the museum's walls is false.

Some are protesting the opening of the creation museum, which holds to the idea that the universe is only about six thousand years old.

Thousands of people also lined up Monday morning to tour the new museum.

A ministry called Answers in Genesis raised 27 million dollars in donations for the 65 thousands square foot museum.

Creation Museum president Ken Ham insists, "mainstream science confirms the Bible's history."

I thought we lived in a nation of freedom and to be able to learn everything about anything. Looks like double standards. They let haunted houses open all over the place. You can go or not go what is the big deal right.

in order for there to be evolution, it must be a continuing process, . a person place or thing does not evolve once and stop. there should be millions still in the process of evolving. still in the ape stage heading to the next level and so on. and so on. and so on. and so on. they should just keep on evolving and getting better and better. which leaves us with the age old question, where ARE all the missing links? duh! by the way, by now shouldn't we be traveling by brain waves? things do evolve and change but there are always the steps of change evident in and of the change, ie the missing link. I am a Christian thus I believe in Creation and every word of the Bible. I do not understand it all but I Believe it all. FAITH. FOR GRACE ARE YOU SAVED BY FAITH. I write this not to argue but to put forth my view. Think about it.

I would Like to point out to Bill from Ohio that the museum is not dedicated to the 10 commandments. It is a Creation Museum.... which would indicate what it's views are. There are also only one View of Christanity and that is the one in the bible. God never advocates "Gay bashing" he only calls it an abomination Leviticus 18:22 the Christian thing to do is to Love the person and hate the sin not beat a confession or otherwise out of them. The Reformation 1840 began only because of Belief/Conviction that Gensis was true if it wasn't for the reformation there would be no internet or Microwave and the entire tecnology reolution never would of happened

PEOPLE ASK WHY THERE ARE SO MANY KILLINGS, SO MANY ON DRUGS, WHY PEOPLE DO THE UNLAWFUL THINGS THEY DO. THE REASON IS THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION HAVE GOTTEN AWAY FROM THE BIBLE. THIS NATION WAS FOUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO WAS BEING TORMENTED FOR THEIR CHRISTAIN BELIEFS. THE BIBLE WAS THEIR BASIS FOR OUR ORIGINAL GOVERMENT. I THINK IT IS HIGH TIME TO GET BACK TO THE BASICS OF A GOOD MORAL LIFE AND BELIEF IN THE BIBLE. HOORAY FOR THE MUSEM. **BY THE WAY, IT COULD BE GOD CREATED MORE APES THEN HUMANS TO SEE IF THEY WOULD EVOLVE IN TO HUMANS, SO FAR I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY EVIDENCE.

Why bother protesting this? It's a privately funded museum. If you don't agree with the premise, why would it be worth any further attention other than a certain perverse entertainment? Maybe the act of protesting is a perverse entertainment in its own right; I used to know lefties who could hardly wait for the next protest "be-in." Protesting the museum's opening accomplishes nothing other than giving the museum's proponents an excuse to bolster their weak egos with poor-little-us persecution fantasies. Their version of "Christianity" focuses on the Ten Commandments and attendant fantasies of social control (gay-bashing, opposing abortion, insisting on abstinence-only sex education, etc.) and completely ignores the Sermon on the Mount and Christ's parables about love, forgiveness, and transcendence. For that reason, this museum's as much a monument to irrelevancy as it is to the misapplication of scientific principle -- which it achieves the latter pretty thoroughly, from descriptions I've read. This museum will quickly go the way of Heritage USA as believers get bored with it and stop supporting it with their ticket purchases and donations. I highly doubt the commenter who wished for two or three in every state will get to this this transmuted into a franchise operation.

I LOVE it when people who OBVIOUSLY have no idea of what the Bible says quote those few "pet" scriptures to further their point. Then, when a Bible scholar mentions HIS view,it gets dismissed.(The Bible has been MIS-TRANSLATED!,etc...)As for the (absurd) notion that faith MUST be BLIND,well...just read the Bible and you'll quickly see that God has left the EVIDENCE for His existence all over the planet and beyond. But as He is a gracious God,He will let you exercise your (often damning)free will. If you look and seek Him with your whole heart, you WILL find Him! Problem, for you unbelievers,is that He will not force Himself on ANYONE! So,seek Him while there is still time! Hundreds of thousands of people die EVERY day...And no one's (false) beliefs will carry them to Heaven! (No matter HOW HARD YOU TRY!!) John 8:32

I totally agree with XDOCK. These people are just looking for anything to protest. If you don't like it, you don't have to go. When your on your death bed hoping to go to heaven, do you honestly think you will look back and remember the day you protested against this museum??? How sad.....

I believe in evolution, and do not believe in christianity but I think it is ridiculous that people are protesting this. It is a museum dedicated to creationism, and I for one don't see the problem with that. It is not at all the same issue as teaching creationism as fact in public schools. It is not the same as forcing the 10 commandments at those who don't believe, by putting them up in public. It is not the same as prayer in public school which may alienate the non-christian students. Clearly I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a story indicating that the museum is government funded, so I don't see an issue with it at all.

The myth of Noah's Ark is pre-dated by the myth of Gilgamesh. These old Hebrew allegories were never meant to be taken literally, and when they are it serves to demean religion. Ken Ham is wrong in saying that if the Bible is inaccurate in one area, it must be totally inaccurate. That is just a simple-minded statement, and all Christians should recognize that the Bible is a compendium of myths, allegories, and historical events, tied together to create some semblance of morality and ethics. Evolution occurs, otherwise we would have no life on the planet...it is the method of ecological adaptation to a changing world. Human evolution connects us to nature, to the rest of life on the planet; too often, religion makes us a separate entity, apart from nature...that is disastrous!

great this what we have needed for years, the truth. People have been so blinded by lies that they can no longeer see the truth. We are having an increasing hatred toward christians and anything that has to do with God. Praise the Lord

What is all the complaining about. If you don't like what the museum offers go somewhere else. Remember according to the US Government this is a free country to both American citizens and (illegals)?

I would like to praise God for anyone that is willing to spread his word. Why do Christians have to step aside for everyone else to step on??

It's when people stop using there brains that the world falls apart it was Christian's that brought about Science you can't have science without God it Just doesn't make logical sense. Finally somone making a good use of ther brains it is very illogical to belive in Evolution.

I wish people of faith would just TRUST faith, and not try to make a pseudo-science out of it. Making up a lot of jargo and cherrypicking the natural world for supposed "inconsistencies" and putting on lab coats to peddle Biblical fundamentalism under the false label of "Creationism" is lying -- and it's a sin to tell a lie.

The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. Let the heathen rage!! We need two or three Creation Museum's in every state.

Well hear it is cut and dried,America the home of democracy , protesting another persons belief because its not yours is Communist,,,,go figure!

I can't believe all those free thinking scientist could be so closed minded. What is more of a stretch believing that a superior mind created everything??? or that all this wonder and beauty came from pond scum??? Science and God are not mutually exclusive as many scientist wish it to be. They have yet to find a scientific experiment that disproves God's existance. If it where not for all the natural laws and order they wouldn't be able to carry out experiments or even a formulate a hypothesis. In fact I have yet to find anything created out of chaos.

When Christians are faced with the unexplained,or something that is way beyond their ability to use reason, they simply make up a story,or some fairytale. What's worse is the fact that they mentally abuse their children with this mindless drivel.

It seems like people who believe other than the Bible and creation get all bent out of shape when Christians want to have something that they believe in. What's the problem? We have to put up with their ideas of how life began, then I think that they should leave the Christians alone. If it doesn't pertain to them, then they need to keep their mouths shut. Why protest something so trival? Why not protest the fact that children are being abused and killed each day by the hands of their parents/step-parents/grandparents?? Why not do something constructive about that?? Way too many people are turning a blind eye when it comes to the safety of our children. I say for those people to get a life and do something worthwhile for a change instead of worrying how Christians are living their lives.

I consider the fact that since there were those protesting the museum- a good sign that satan is worried. The truth in God's Word is finally being presented in such a wonderful way for all to understand and believe. May many have their eyes and hearts opened to what the real truth is.

Thank you Elizabeth for the report. I think God made the world a few thousand years ago, but in a mature functional state. This was why Adam and Eve were created as adults not babies. Other miracles in the Bible are consistant with this view, and explains why scientific evidence points to both an old earth and and a young earth.

Well they can open a museum and say that we come from the sea or animals and thats ok but when we say that god created us its controversial man oh man.

Posted by: Carol Location: KY on May 28, 2007 at 12:08 PM
Regardless of what anyone believes, at least this is getting attention...getting people thinking....That's never a bad thing. The only "bad" to come is if protesting gets violent...Let's just hope that everyone will remember that we do have freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. So, let's all treat this entire matter with love and respect for each other, and --- for the adults, PLEASE don't ruin the fun of a museum with dinosaurs for the kids!! It will all turn out OK if we can just teach our kids how to read and think for themselves!!!

If you don't like something don't go to it, and the world would be a better place if we did more things concerning the bible, and god.

If the people protesting this museum are so sure that what they believe is right, I wonder why they feel threatened by one small museum. Perhaps they aren't so grounded in their belief.

Posted by: Sheila Location: Russell Springs on May 28, 2007 at 09:54 AM
What's the problem? We have to listen to "their" protest, "their" beliefs, "their" views, etc....Leave the Christian people ALONE! Protest things like all our nations children that are being violated, killed, etc...Just protest something that is actually WORTH protesting!

Posted by: jd Location: KY on May 28, 2007 at 07:51 AM
ALL RIGHT!!!! Truth will prevail!!!!! What is there to protest???
