Dozens of people from several different agencies are searching for a missing Eastern Kentucky man.

It's underway in the Fonde Mountain area of Bell County just west of Middlesboro where the man was last seen.

The family of Travis Wilson reported him missing to Middlesboro Police three weeks ago, but after no sign of him, Saturday someone found his car abandoned at the end of an ATV trail up on Fonde Mountain. Now rescue crews are searching everywhere around there. They're hoping for some sign of the 27 year old.

Someone riding an ATV Saturday discovered Travis Wilson's car abandoned at the dead end of a section of rough trail rarely traveled even by ATV, much less a Toyota Camry.

"He did have a flat tire and got the jack out. Showed an attempt to change that tire," said Jerry Rains with Emergency Management.

Those searching say it appears Wilson tried to back the car up and go back, but he couldn't do it. Over fifty rescue personnel and several dogs are looking on the ground. Searchers say a thermal imaging search from the air to detect body heat yielded nothing.

"Today we expanded the search. We're going door to door to see if anybody saw Mr. Wilson in the past two to three weeks," Rains said.

Since he went missing, Wilson has not taken medication for Paranoid Schizophrenia. His family and search crews are worried.

"He needs to be on his medication. We're hoping we can find him and still get the medication to him," Rains said.

But everyone is hoping for the best.

"It's a true unknown at this time. He could have caught a ride with somebody. He's been missing before and came out fine," Rains said.

Officials are urging anyone who has seen Travis Wilson or has any information that could lead to his whereabouts to contact Bell County 911.

Wilson is a 27 year old white man weighing about 250 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a short sleeved work shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.
