So far police have made no arrests in last week's burglary that cost a gospel radio and television station almost $60,000 in lost equipment and building damages. Even with or without an arrest, the station's owner says listeners will continue to hear his message.
It's been almost a week since burglars stole thousands of dollars of equipment from WVCT and WVTN but in these testing times, owner Charles Sivley has maintained his composure.
"God said I'll be with you, I'll never leave you, I'll never forsake you and that's the good part that's taught me how to be calm, cool, and collected," Sivley said.
His stations had to go off the air twice because of equipment shortages, but this week's Sunday gospel aired as scheduled.
"There's a building hatred by many in society towards Christians to the point that anything that you can do to try to stop them or shut them down or cause them grief is in many areas very acceptable," said Evangelist Charles Walters.
Listeners say the theft isn't going to keep them from the gospel they love to hear.
"The devil fight's God's people, but we're over comers. Moral conquerors," said Cornelius McFarland.
Sivley admits that he needs more than prayer in order to buy new equipment.
"Sometimes people just don't comprehend, you know it takes money. Some of this stuff would never have happened if I'd had the regular finances that I need," Sivley said.
Sivley says he hopes listeners will donate what they can to help. He says if this is a test of faith, he will persevere.
He says if you want to make a donation, you can contact him at the station. His phone number is 606-528-7335.
