An ATV accident has sent one boy to the hospital with serious injuries in Clay County.

Information is limited at this time, but emergency officials tell us a 14 year old boy had to be air-lifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after an accident involving an ATV in the Hector area of Clay County.

We will pass along more information as it becomes available to us.

Another ATV accident, this one in Owsley County, has left one man dead.

Police say 27 year old Tony Gross of Ricetown was killed Sunday morning on the Upper Right Hand Fork of Buffalo Road when he lost control of his ATV in a curve and hit a tree.

The accident is still under investigation.

When are our Law Makers, Law Enforcement, and other State Officials going to wake up and not only write new laws, but enforce them as well? Get the ATV's and Dirt Bikes off the Highways.

I stand by my comments. Go to the search bar on the top of the WKYT page and type in the word "atv" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Stupid people repeat stupid things. If one person has done it and it killed or injured them, why do you think the next person that does it isn't stupid? Don't give me diatribe that people get killed in cars everyday so maybe people should quit driving; this is a whole different can of beans and if you don't get it, you never will. As for my comments on words spelled incorrectly; if it gets you mad, that's good. Now go out and stop stupidity. How can a person graduate high school without knowing how to spell the basic words?

For something that is serious, this is a funny forum to read. I'll agree the spelling and grammar suck. Hey Mark from Ashland; I'll agree with you and your summation of how people ride ATVs and I won't bash you even though you spelled a few words incorrectly...LOL! You made your point loud and clear. The post by "someone in harlan" makes good points as well. I'm just curious judy; was your son wearing a helmet? I'm not criticizing either way but I'm curious if his injuries were that substantial from wearing a helmet. And yes, you are right...have fun riding but ride safely! I hear so many comments from people screaming common sense when riding them but unfortunately, common sense doesn't seem to be that "common" anymore. "Unbelievable from Hazard" states the truth but I doubt law enforcement can do anything unless someone calls them and reports what they see since they can't be everywhere at once. Lastly, the people who complain about spelling and grammar amuse me as do those who can't spell and use terrible grammar. Thank God we all aren't the same; we'd be a boring bunch.

If you want to be taken seriously, learn to spell. I don't have spell check like you insinuate. Don't bash on me because of your stupidity. Yes I wear my seat belt; yes I drive the speed limit; yes I obey the posted traffic signs. Mean and rude?? Nope, just pointing out the obvious.

my son,age29,also wrecked an atv in nov.He hit a tree after he went airborne in a curve. He was flown to UK where he had brain surgery & had nearly his whole face & forehead rebuilt.I thank God every day, my son is a walking miracle. I think a lot of people don't realize the danger if you don't be careful when you ride atv's.They are a lot of fun to ride & you can see places in the mountains that are beautiful. So I'd like to say "have fun riding, but please ride safely," because you could be the next one to get hurt or killed.

Did anyone ever see an update about the young man from Clay County? I was wondering about his condition.

First and foremost I do feel deep sympathy for the family and friends of these 2 boys and all the other deaths from any vehicles. Secondly, I want to say you other people should be ashamed of yourselves for putting other people's grammar down when the original concern was these deaths and injuries. Get a life!

Would u be so cruel if this were your family? I know there are rules, but do we always follow them? Do we always wear our seat belt? Do we always drive the speed limit? So we don't point your fingers unless your own hands are clean...(I will be praying for the families).

I agree with unbeleivable more and more people are dying from ATV's. There is so many accidents here in Harlan and you never hear what happened with them, its like they are hiding it. The people here are out of control on the atvs. You can't go to Evarts without them up and down the roads... ALOT of them are kids or will have small children on them with them. I dont think they should be aloud on the main roads with them. And im sure half the accidents on the trail are alcohol/drug related.

To Constantly Thinking and common sense, not everyone has spell check like you or think slow enough to stop to put in punctuation. I thought this was about ATVs not grammar school. You like to elude to the fact that God made all ATV drivers stupid, well then if you're right on that point. God also made some people just plain mean and rude to others.

Wow, alot of hate appears on the board. This is not a put some one down posting board. It is painfully obvious that in most cases it is not the ATV to blame but the Operator! I will try to spell everything correctly less I get thrashed by you idiots. No one, under 18, should ever be left unsupervised on anything motorized. As for the older folks, well you have to use these things responsibly. The sad fact is most people scream at folks for not using helments when that is not the problem. Not really! The problem is driving these things like Idiots. Driving to fast, to wreckless, and over terrain that they may not know or respect. All Terrain does not mean it can take a 75 foot drop, or run over a tree. Your not indestructable, Good Day!

ATVs were invented so we can weed out the stupid people. If you can't read the instructions such as how old you need to be to operate one, helmet safety, only for off road use, etc. Hey johnny from evarts; you should have used the money for the ATV and applied it toward spelling class.

The death rate for all-terrain vehicle users grew faster in Kentucky than in any state from 2002 to 2004, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Kentucky led the nation with 106 reported ATV-related deaths from those years, according to the commission's recently released Annual Report of ATV Deaths and Injuries. West Virginia was second with 93 deaths reported. Nationwide, there were 1,571 deaths in that span, according to the report. How many more deaths will it take before State Police start enforcing the laws and keep ATV off the highways. Most persons ride them on the highways to get to an offroad spot and ride them as transportation without insurance, lights, turn signals, helments, etc...

wow...one big paragraph with no period or comma. Try using one of those and people will be able to read what you have to say.
