United States Senator Mitch McConnell came to Hazard Tuesday but his visit to Eastern Kentucky did not stop there. Senator McConnell came to Pikeville and spoke to the Pike County Chamber of Commerce about the importance of turning coal to fuel and the war in Iraq.

"We haven't been attacked since 9/11 and there's only one reason for that. We've gone on the offensive because we've gone after these terrorists in places like Kabul, Baghdad so we didn't have to fight them in places like Washington and New York," McConnell said.

The senator also honored Doctor John Strosnider, the late Dean of the Pikeville College Medical School.
