The Mid-South Conference announced the basketball season’s first player of the week honor as Lauren Wombles (London, KY) of the University of the Cumberlands topped the charts.

Wombles recorded a double-double in each of the Patriots two wins this past week against Covenant College, 68-46, and Bluefield College, 65-44, along with double-doubles in two previous games in the season.

This past weekend, Wombles averaged 20.5 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 56.2 percent. Against Covenant, Wombles scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and against Bluefield College; she scored 24 points and recoded 15 rebounds.

This season, Wombles is leading the Patriots in scoring with 21.4 points per game and in rebounds with 11.4 rebounds per game. Wombles is also second in the MSC for scoring and first in rebounds.
