PIKEVILLE, Ky. – While his playing season has recently ended, Pikeville College softball coach Robert Staggs isn’t on vacation. He’s in the midst of another season: Recruiting season.
Today he has signed another outstanding prospect in Lawrence County pitcher Kelsey Caudill.
Caudill recorded 110 strikeouts as a sophomore for the Bulldogs and raised that total to 237 as a junior. At this point in her senior campaign, she has already surpassed those with 262 strikeouts.
“Obviously she’s a very talented player and we’re excited about adding another arm to our staff,” said Staggs. “We’re looking forward to adding her to our roster in the fall.”
Caudill was a second-team all-state selection as a junior and, for the last two seasons, not only led her team in strikeouts but also at the plate in hits.
Lawrence County is 20-3 on the season and at this point is unbeaten against 15th Region competition with a mark of 11-0.
Pikeville finished its season with a record of 26-28.
