A Toast to Remember at Cedar Creek Vineyards

A brigade of the city’s volunteers, culinary artists and musicians are about to join forces with Cedar
Creek Vineyards, all in the name of supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. The First Annual Toast To Remember
will be held at the Cedar Creek Vineyards on Saturday, May 18 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. This inaugural event will
serve to both educate Kentuckians about Alzheimer’s disease and raise funds to support our regional Alzheimer’s
Association. Tickets are $25 per person, $35 per couple and can be purchased at
The state of Kentucky has been dealt tragic blows by Alzheimer’s disease. It’s estimated that 80,000 people have
Alzheimer's in Kentucky and that number is expected to jump to 97,000 in the next 10-12 years. A recent study by
the Alzheimer's Association reveals that Alzheimer's deaths increased 68 percent nationwide and 73 percent in
Kentucky over the last ten years alone. In response, Ashlee Sandusky, who lost a grandfather and great-grandmother to
the disease, created a fundraiser. “I wanted to do something – anything – to make Kentuckians aware that although there is
currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, perhaps one day soon there will be with enough community support.” Proceeds
from the event will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Partnering on this event is Cedar Creek Vineyards. Cedar Creek – located amidst the picturesque rolling hills of
Southeastern Kentucky at 294 Cedar Creek Lane - is owned and operated by vintner Jeff Wiles, a life-long resident
of Pulaski County. Established in 2002, Cedar Creek opened for business in 2007 with an initial offering of 4 labels.
Cedar Creek currently has 3.5 acres of grape vines with a mixture of French hybrids and native grapes. Several
varieties of wine are offered.
A Toast to Remember will include a performance by award-winning country music artist Sydney Cubit as well as a
silent auction. Sponsors for the event are Kentucky Tourism, Cedar Creek Vineyards, Strack Heating & Air.
Participating business included in the auction are: Thirty-One, The Nail Bar, Scentsy. Bluegrass Charm, Classic
Clutter, the Lexington Legends, Designs by SuZanne, New Orleans Saints Preseason Tickets, and various other
