Advance registration forms designed to save time at Free Flu Friday
Getting a free flu shot in Fayette County just got a bit easier.
Registration forms for the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Free Flu Friday can now be printed online and filled out in advance to help reduce the amount of time waiting in line at the annual event.
The forms and instructions are available at www.LexFluCrew.com. Free Flu Friday will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Imani Family Life Center, 1555 Georgetown Road.
“We’re prepared to give up to 2,000 free flu shots, and this advance form is a way to shave off a few minutes of time for those who use it,” said Kevin Hall, LFCHD spokesman. “It’s quick and easy: just go to the LexFluCrew site, print the form, fill it out and bring it with you Oct. 12. Our staff will get you in and out as quickly as possible.”
Last year, the health department provided almost 1,700 free shots at Free Flu Friday.
“Not only will this new advance registration help things move faster,” said Hall, “it should also allow us to provide even more shots to the public.”
The seasonal flu shot, which also provides protection against H1N1, is recommended to all people ages 6 months and older. Last year, Lexington had 143 confirmed cases of the flu. The health department provided more than 5,000 flu vaccinations throughout the season.
