Big Blue Crush day four: Kentucky lead is slipping away

Tennessee out donated Kentucky again Thursday and now trails by only nine in the 26th annual Big Blue Crush. Kentucky leads 2,732 to 2,723.
“Tennessee had their biggest day today, and we know the Big Blue Nation doesn’t want to lose to the Vols. Kentucky donors need to bring it on Friday in order to win this thing,” said Martha Osborne, Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Kentucky Blood Center. “If you haven’t donated, donate. If you have donated, thank you and please tell your friends to donate Friday.”
Kentucky Blood Center’s four donor centers – Beaumont, Andover, Pikeville and Somerset – are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. There are also blood drives on the University of Kentucky campus at Singletary Center for the Arts, the Medical Center and WT Young Library.
Donors will receive a long-sleeve Big Blue Crush T-shirt. Those who give at a donor center will also get a movie pass to an area cinema.
Big Blue Crush helps ensure a sufficient blood supply for Kentucky patients during the Thanksgiving holiday and into December. The overall competition is 12 to 12 with 1 tie.
To find a Big Blue Crush donation location or to schedule an appointment, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
