Big Blue Slam Day 4: Results Gators still leading; Cats need to finish big

Going into the last day of Big Blue Slam, Kentucky trails Florida, 1,394 to 1,160.
“It was a good day today. The sunshine helped, and we saw hundreds of donors. We’re hoping that trend continues tomorrow,” said Martha Osborne, Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).
“Unfortunately, three of our blood drives tomorrow have been cancelled due to the weather. That closes out January with more than 30 blood drive cancellations and a loss of nearly 1,000 donations. We’re still struggling to get our blood supply back where it should be,” said Osborne.
“We thank the Big Blue Nation for supporting Big Blue Slam this week, and we invite those who haven’t donated yet to come save a life tomorrow.”
As an extra thank you for giving blood, Friday donors at the four KBC donor centers will receive a movie ticket to an area cinema. They will also receive a Big Blue Slam T-shirt and a chance to win a package for two to the SEC Tournament in Atlanta – two tickets for the Thursday through Sunday sessions in the Georgia Dome and a three-night stay at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.
KBC donor centers will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow, and there will be a number of blood drives on the University of Kentucky campus and at various other locations throughout the region.
The sixth annual Big Blue Slam is a blood drive competition between Cat and Gator fans and KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Center in Gainesville. Kentucky leads the competition 3 to 2.
