LEXINGTON, KY – The Rotary Club of Lexington will hold its weekly meeting Thursday, March 29, at 12:00 p.m., at Fasig-Tipton, 2400 Newtown Pike. The topic will be the findings and recommendations of the Arena Arts & Entertainment District Task Force for Rupp Arena and the Lexington Center. Guest speakers will be Brent Rice, a local attorney, developer, and chairman of the Arena District Task Force, as well as Stan Harvey, AICP, project manager and an urban designer with Urban Collage in Lexington. Judge Bruce Bell will introduce the program.
The future of one of Lexington’s most recognizable buildings has been a hot topic throughout the latter part of 2011 and early 2012. Now that the 47-member Arena, Arts & Entertainment District Task Force has made its final recommendations for Rupp Arena and Lexington Center, and Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear included $3.5 million in his budget for design of the arena, what are the next steps for the proposed enhancements and how will it proceed with success?
Find out more about what the task force chairman and project manager learned in their positions during the process and what’s next for this city transforming effort.
