Clark school board returns to facilities plan

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) - The Clark County school board has returned to a controversial facilities plan after receiving a warning from state officials.

The Winchester Sun reported board members voted 3-2 on Tuesday night to pass a resolution supporting the facilities plan.

The action came after Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday sent a bluntly worded email message to board members earlier this month that seemed to leave them with no choice by to move forward with the plan. Holliday warned if deadlines aren't met, the state would hold funding that constitutes more than half the district budget.

Board members previously delayed for a year a plan to merge the county's two middle schools and have also rejected renovations at Clark Middle School and the old George Rogers Clark High School.
