Dan Barnes, master glass craftsman to teach at the LASC in October

Lexington artist and master craftsman, Dan Neil Barnes will return to the Living Arts & Science Center to teach a four-week session, Beginning Stained Glass class, beginning October 1, 8, 15 & 22. Registrations for this unique workshop are now open and can be made on-line at www.LASCLEX.org.

The workshop will take a small group of students through a step-by-step process to construct a small, stained glass panel. Dan will provide several simple designs to choose from. Students will select colors from the provided glass and learn how to cut the glass, grind the edges, line the edges with copper foil, and to solder the panel. After this project they will be ready to get more creative with design and glass selection.

The workshop is for adults and teens, 16 years of age and up, and will provide all necessary materials and supplies.

Dan Neil Barnes is a multi-award winning artist whose work transcends traditional stained glass art forms. Dan has been awarded top honors and recognition for his stained glass including the following:

Barnes was also recently commissioned to create an art installation in the Owensboro Convention Center set to open in January 2014

Pre-registration for the class is required. Registrations are can be made on-line at www.LASCLEX.org. Register early as classes fill quickly. The cost for the class is $140 for members of the LASC and $150 for non-members. The cost includes all materials and supplies.

The Living Arts & Science Center is a not-for-profit organization that provides creative and unique opportunities for exploration and education in the arts and sciences. Art galleries, a science gallery, and arts and science classes and workshops are provided year-round for children and adults of all ages. In addition, the Living Arts and Science Center partners with community agencies and organizations to provide free hands-on arts activities at community events and programs and classes for special needs and at-risk students.
