UTICA, Ind. (AP) - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says a new Ohio River bridge just east of Louisville, Ky., will be completed under budget and on time.
Kentucky and Indiana officials gathered Wednesday at the site of what will become the new east end bridge.
Pence says the two states put aside regional competition to pursue a project that will create jobs and economic opportunities for the region.
The span will complete an interstate loop around Louisville with a crossing between Utica, Ind., and Prospect, Ky. Construction is set to begin next week on the project, which has a 2016 completion date.
A second new bridge will be built at downtown Louisville.
The $2.6 billion project will be one of the country's largest public works endeavors.
