An escapee from the Floyd County Detention Center is still on the loose! Jail officials say Steven Rogers got away around two Thursday afternoon while he was being transported back to the jail.
21 year old Steven Rogers was arrested on kidnapping charges on wednesday night.
"The subject had kicked her door in, made entry into her home, assaulter her, took her friend captive and forced her against her will out of the home and into his truck," said Bryan Hall, the Prestonsburg assistant police chief.
Not even a full day later, he escaped.
"I'm assuming they took him for an arraignment or to set his bond and at that point, sometime during the transfer he escaped from custody," Hall said.
Rogers ran away and officials have been trying to find him ever since. Police believe Rogers lost his orange jump suit and could be wearing something else.
"Possibly a black shirt, maybe a hoodie, jeans, a black ball cap and he wasn't wearing shoes," Hall explained.
Police say he could still be in the area and they will continue looking for him
"We'll search till he's apprehended or at least for the next 24 hours it'll be a pretty in depth search."
Officials say people in the area need to be alert.
"This subject is dangerous. He could be dangerous. We believe he is dangerous through past actions. Do not approach this subject," said Hall.
If anyone has any information, contact police.
Once Rogers is caught, he will also face escape charges on top of the kidnapping charges he already had.
