Kentucky man gets 16 years in prison for chop shop

SMITHLAND, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of operating a chop shop in Livingston County.

The Paducah Sun reported (http://bit.ly/1gmCKXH ) that a judge handed down the sentence for Joseph "Shane" Robinson of Hampton on Wednesday. Robinson was arrested in January.

State police detectives say they found evidence from thefts in Lyon, Crittenden and Marshall counties, on his property before he was arrested.

Robinson was found guilty of multiple counts of receiving stolen property under $10,000, receiving stolen property over $10,000, first-degree criminal mischief, obscuring the identity of a machine and trafficking in stolen vehicles or vehicle parts.
