Lexington, KY: Beyond Grits, a culinary guide to Lexington created by Group CJ, garnered the 'Best of Show' title and a first place award at the Kentucky Tourism Industry Association (KTIA) 2012 Excellence in Marketing Awards Gala Tuesday night. Traverse Awards honor talent, creativity and effectiveness in marketing and are the highlight of the annual KTIA Fall Meeting. More than 400 tourism professionals from around the state attended the event.
In total, the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau received eight awards including five first place awards and three second place awards. In addition to Beyond Grits, first place awards were given to the following: "Southern Starts Here" promotional video; "Brrbon" marketing campaign; Bourbon and Beer print ad; and the 'Art of the Weekend' ad in a single medium category. Second place awards were given to the Lexington Visitors Planning Guide, Big Lex Bourbon Soap in the specialty items category, and to a LexTreks Video featuring Jefferson Street in the Promotional Video Category.
"It's a tremendous honor to have our Beyond Grits dining guide receive the highest award in Kentucky's travel industry," said Mary Quinn K. Ramer, vice president of marketing at the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"Recognition of marketing excellence among our industry peers is always rewarding, and it is especially nice to bring the 'Best of Show' designation home to Lexington. We are so appreciative of our creative partners and the work they do to showcase our wonderful destination."
