HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - A regional ethics panel has decided to hold a hearing on an accusation against an eastern Kentucky sheriff.
The Harlan Daily Enterprise reports the Cumberland Valley Area Development District ethics panel decided during an inquiry hearing on Thursday that a full hearing should be held on a complaint filed against Harlan County Sheriff Marvin Lipfird. A hearing date was set for June 17.
The complaint against Lipfird stems from an audit of the sheriff' department that questioned the purchase of a vehicle. Harlan County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop and magistrates filed the ethics complaint.
Lipfird told the newspaper he is looking forward to explaining what happened.
Meanwhile, Lipfird arrested Grieshop earlier this week on charges of burglary, theft and official misconduct. Grieshop has declined to speak about the charges.
