A fire kills one person this afternoon in Perry County. The blaze ripped through a Leatherwood home around five this evening.
One woman was found dead inside the home, located on highway 699 in Leatherwood. The road was partially closed while crews put out the flames.
This was the scene of the deadly fire in Leatherwood. Officials had the area partially blocked off and from the street, this is what you could see was left of the house.
"It was just fully engulfed, the house was and they found her back, on the back side of the house next to the door when when they found the body," said Carter Hall, the Leatherwood fire chief.
Chief Hall says nothing is salvageable, no one else was hurt and no other homes were damaged.
"There was a trailer over here on the right of it and a trailer behind it back there but they kept everything down," he said.
Officials would not release any further information about the fire or how it started, but investigators were on scene. The Perry County coroner also came to take the body. Family members were present, but did not want to comment.
Cornettsville, Viper and Leatherwood fire departments all responded.
