The Make-a-Wish Foundation has made a local boy's wish come true by building him a pirate ship. Five year old Ethan Davis got his boat recently and he has been enjoying it ever since.
Most kids are used to playing on swing sets like this one, but one Breathitt County boy gets to play on this everyday.
This is Ethan Davis, a pirate lover, who now has his very own pirate ship, thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
"Whenever he saw it, it was priceless. I mean his face lit up. It was his slides. That's all he wanted was his slides," said Amanda Mcclure, Ethan's mom.
It's equipped with a plank, slides, swings and an indoor hide out. While you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at him, Ethan has a genetic condition called Sanphilippo. There is no treatment, no cure.
"Most of them only live til they are 13 and it causes them to eventually have to be put on feeding tubes, wheelchairs, stuff like that," said Amanda.
While Ethan's mom says it is hard not to think about, she is thankful for the pirate ship and the happiness and memories it has brought to her son.
Ethan just celebrated his 5th birthday on Wednesday.
