BELL Co., Ky. (WYMT) - Chris Branham is a Bell County native and owns Christopher's Creations in Middlesboro.

Last week, Branham left his small town to ring in 2014 in Pasadena, California.

"Prepping of flowers, I mean thousands on top of thousands of flowers," said Branham.

He was busy preparing for the 125th Rose Parade.

Branham said he is gaining more experience for his American Institute of Floral Designers certification.

He said, "Of course I'm learning more everyday!"

This is his first time participating, but said he will definitely do this again.

The florist helped to arrange the K9s 4 Cops float.

"That last day when I put the last flower in and stood back and looked at it, it was just so overwhelming and so exciting," he said.

He also said we might not realize how much preparation goes into these elaborate floats.

"Just how it's constructed and the team of people it takes to put it together," said Branham.

Officials said more than 500,000 roses are used in the parade.

Branham said he cannot think of a better way to welcome the new year.
