PINEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A tire amnesty program in Bell County has collected around 3,000 tires so far.
Crews are taking donations of old tires at the state highway garage in Pineville.
The tires will then be recycled.
Workers say this helps gets the tires out of the communities and they are disposed of safely.
"There's tires laying everywhere or people want to burn them when you can just bring them out here, get them recycled and get them somewhere else instead of dirtying up the community all the time," said Christopher Adkins who is working at the Tire Amnesty Program.
They will be collecting tires again on Saturday from &:00am-3:0pm at the state highway garage near US-25E in Pineville.
