Bell County woman killed in hit and run, driver surrenders to police

JACKSBORO, Tenn. (WYMT/WVLT) - A Kentucky woman was killed after a hit-and-run Tuesday night. The driver of the truck turned herself in to authorities hours later.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Terenia Grubbs, 39 of Middlesboro was struck and killed while crossing U.S. Highway 25W near Eagle Circle shortly after 11:00 p.m. The driver continued on without stopping.

About 8 hours later, Tiffney Ivey of Caryville turned herself in to the Campbell County Sheriff's Department, according to THP. Investigators also stated in a report that there was a passenger in the vehicle.

Terenia's boyfriend told Local 8 News she was visiting him from Middlesboro, Ky. Just minutes before the incident, he said she called to tell him she was going to a nearby store to buy a pack of cigarettes.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and no charges have been filed. A toxicology report is pending.
